Cellulite – one shall not say this word. When mentioned, this word seems to be very contagious. However, we may not talk about cellulite or mention it at all, but dimpling on the skin is certainly a huge source of insecurity for women, and men, likewise.
We all ask the same question every now and then (especially when the summer season begins), and the question is – how to get rid of cellulite? Many people add one more word as well, and the question is changed to – how to get rid of cellulite FAST? Is there a natural way to get rid of cellulite fast?
To answer this question, we should start with answering – What is cellulite anyway?
We all know what cellulite looks like – do we know what causes it? Those bumpy fat deposits that usually appear on the legs and butt, but in the hips, stomach and arms as well, sometimes severe and sometimes mild is in fact swollen fat cells that put pressure on the surrounding fibrous tissue.
Different reasons cause cellulite, and women are more prone to develop it.
- When women’s estrogen levels naturally decline, that is, due to the hormonal changes that weaken the fibrous tissue, cellulite appears. This usually happens between the ages of 25 to 35, when circulation has weakened, and lack of collagen production is causing weaker skin and connective tissue. Menstrual cycles also contribute to cellulite because women’s bodies release an enzyme that causes collagen to break down.
- Women also have more fat than men do. Women are also not so good at oxidizing fat. Fat cells in women’s body are distributed in vertical columns, and they are more prone to bulging.
Test yourself for cellulite!
Before you start thinking of any treatment or product you would want to use (although I am in favor of natural treatments), you need to test yourself for cellulite. How can you do that? If you aren’t sure what pinch test is, use your index finger and your thumb, pinch the skin on your outer thigh, buttocks or any other place you suspect and look for dimpling.
Medically, there are four stages of cellulite:
Stage 0 – one will not notice dimpling when standing or lying, and the pinch test will not show mattress-like appearance
Stage 1 – one will not notice dimpling when standing or lying down, but the pinch test will show mattress-like appearance
Stage 2 – When standing, one will notice spontaneous dimpling, but not while lying down
Stage 3 – Whether standing or lying down, one will notice spontaneous dimpling
After testing yourself, you can dive more into the subject of treatments that suit you the best.
How can you get rid of cellulite naturally?
Cellulite-reducing products tend to be very expensive and very often not effective at all. If you have been using some of those products, then you know how effective they are. On the other hand, natural treatments can offer great benefits, though when it comes to the level of effectiveness, those treatments differ as well.
Before applying any of the natural remedies, you should know more about the necessary ways to reduce the appearance of the cellulite.
Nurture your skin – when your skin is weaker, that is, when your skin is lacking collagen and connective tissues are stiffer, the cellulite will become more prominent. Improve the health and elasticity of your skin.
Lose fat – cellulite will be more prominent if you have more fat in the affected areas.
Increase circulation – Poor circulation leads to inflammation and swelling, and these problems inhibit the reparation of connective tissue and collagen.
What natural cellulite treatments can help you get rid of cellulite?
1# Lemon Juice and Cayenne Pepper
Prepare a cocktail of lemon juice and cayenne pepper and drink the mixture three times a day. The results should be visible after a month, especially in terms of improved circulation and elasticity of the skin. This cocktail, due to the lemon’s extraordinary health benefits, is a very effective treatment for detoxification, thus, getting rid of toxic and unwanted material from the body is another benefit for treating cellulite.
A few shakes of spice and a glass of freshly squeezed juice is all it takes to reduce cellulite significantly.
2# Juniper Oil and Olive Oil
Massage is great for improving circulation, and when you add a few drops of olive and juniper oils, a big difference is made. Add one drop of juniper essential oil for every two tablespoons of olive oil and massage it into the affected areas using circular motions.
Repeat this treatment several times a week in the morning or after exercise. The results will be visible after the fourth week, and the skin will be softer and firmer.
3# Coconut Oil and Dry Brush
Skin brushing is necessary even if you do not suffer from cellulite; skin brushing is a daily massage that will make your skin soft and radiant by improving lymphatic flow and circulation.
If you include coconut oil in the massage treatment, the effects are much better. Rub coconut oil on the affected areas and use a dry brush to massage the cellulite. Use firm circular strokes and always work towards the heart.
Repeat this daily and you will see great results in a month.
The coffee treatment has been known since ancient times. Coffee increases circulation and thus it will help reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Caffeine in the coffee has a tightening effect as well. It is very easy to apply the scrub, mix coffee grounds with hot water in the shower and scrub for 10 minutes. After four weeks, your skin will be smoother and firmer, and cellulite appearance will be reduced.
What else can you do? Change your diet and exercise!
Omega-3S are the right kinds of fat you need to include in your diet. Consuming the wrong kinds of fats can lead to the imbalance of fatty acids that our body needs to protect the skin. Omega-3s are important for healthy skin, and it will help reduce cellulite over time.
This is not mandatory, but it will help you decrease the cellulite and keep your body healthy and strong. Moreover, healthy nutrition is key to a healthy body and mind.
EXERCISING is without any doubt the most important activity in the get-rid-of-cellulite battle. If you are already exercising, that’s a plus, if not, you need to choose your activity fast. Whether running, cycling, aerobics or walking, keeping your body active and moving will bring the best result when combined with these natural treatments.
Weight lifting is also more important than many people realize. Apart from stimulating blood flow in the affected areas, weight lifting will also tighten your muscles and help you avoid the dreaded “skinny fat” appearance.
So, can you get rid of cellulite FAST?
FAST isn’t the word you should focus on. Like everything else in life, getting rid of cellulite takes time and patience.
Just stay focused and do not give up until you accomplish your goal!
